This is how we helped Pelayo

New Retail Frontage

Thanks to this technological renovation, not only has the need to eliminate Flex as the underlying technology been resolved, but also the system’s loading speed has been improved, its scalability and availability have been enhanced and its user experience has been improved.

Profile's team has been very easy to work with. The involvement, dedication and good practices have been key factors for the success of the project.

The Challenge

Pelayo, with almost 900,000 members and more than 88 years in the insurance sector, is one of the leading insurers in Spain.

In recent years Pelayo has made significant progress in optimizing its digital ecosystem, developing solutions that are more modern, efficient and aligned with the digital habits of its customers, positioning itself as a technological reference in the sector.

One of the main challenges faced during this technological renewal process has been the modernization of some of the company’s assets developed in Flex technology.

In this context, Pelayo asked us to reimplement its system for contracting retail policies, not only decoupling the front-end from its business logic, thus favoring the scalability and adaptability of the system to market demand, but also redoing the front-end layer of the system, migrating it from Flex technology to a new, faster, more modern, versatile and secure technological stack.

Our Solution

Pelayo provides a solid base architecture to build front-end applications in which aspects such as authentication, authorization, traceability, analytics or dynamic management of log levels are solved to allow development teams to focus on implementing the business logic of the system, isolating them from purely technical aspects.

From Profile we developed a new system for the contracting of retail policies following the following steps:

  • Functional analysis of the system, reverse engineering the code written in Flex and identifying the different flows, cases and validations to be developed and tested.
  • Visual redesign of the application, not only to adapt it to the new corporate style guide but also to improve the usability of the system.
  • Exposure of the business logic via API implementing the Backend For Frontend pattern, creating a new artifact responsible for the adaptation and transformation of existing services to the new frontend, exposing these endpoints in the corporate API Manager.
  • Complete reimplementation of the contracting frontend, making use of Web Components based on Stencil.js to favor the reuse and standardization of interface development.
  • Integration of the new system with different independent and specialized assets, such as the system in charge of the digital signature or the payment gateway.
